Two is better than one… and four is even better!

Hello friends!

I hope this blog post finds you all well! We are so sorry to not have written on here sooner… we’re all learning more about each other through this whole experience, and what do you know, none of us are technologically inclined! So I (Michaela) am going to do my best here.

Our team has been meeting twice a week throughout this quarter, and it’s been SO GREAT. On Monday nights we attend a 2-hour class with the other SPRINT teams where we read books, write papers, and have awesome discussions about Jesus and cross cultural mission work. On top of that, though, the four of us also meet on Tuesday evenings and work through some prepared material while we pray for, and strengthen relationships with one another.  In Ecclesiastes 4, Solomon writes, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Now let me pose this question: If two is so great, how much better is it to have four people to support one another? Pretty darn awesome.

And speaking of awesome, this last Wednesday we had the opportunity to skype with a woman from our host organization in Indonesia! I know that I, personally, was struck by her pure love for the local people, and the group’s patient and culturally respectful approach in sharing Christ.

Now to the nitty gritty stuff – prayer requests! God has been so good to us in preparation so far, and in full knowledge of His sovereignty and love for His people, we humbly ask for your continued prayer. Here’s a brief list:

  • Pray for the people of Indonesia, and that God would soften their hearts toward Him. Ramadan starts next month, and we’ll have the opportunity to join them for the tail end of it, so pray for wisdom in conversation and that God would use this time to show how His love prevails over fear of judgment.
  • Pray for our host organization, and that God would provide encouragement as well as meaningful relationships with the locals.
  • Pray for continued provision over our financial needs! We are so thankful for the generous gifts we’ve received as well as the opportunities to work and fundraise, and it’s exciting to know that the investment made is in a kingdom that lasts forever.
  • Pray for our hearts and relationships with each other. It’s amazing how unprepared one can feel after almost 10 weeks of studying, but sure enough, our human understanding just doesn’t measure up to God’s diversity in creation… Surprise, surprise! The cool thing, though, is that God is all-knowing and ever-loving, and that through Him awesome things are always done. Pray that the four of us will seek Him first and grow in loving each other.

To close off this ridiculously long post (sorry ‘bout that, folks), please know that we are SO thankful for all of your prayer and support. Seriously, it means the world to us. From here on out, we’ll be more intentional about keeping you all in the loop, but for now, peace out from Team Indo!

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galations 5:13
